In the search terms box, type the word or words you wish to search for. It is preferable to use simple, singular rather than complex or plural forms to maximise your chance of matching e.g. "customer" will match more documents than "customers'".

The search will return up to the maximum number of documents which you specify.

Preceding a word by "+" or "-" will respectively increase or decrease the weighting of the word in the search, thus "training -techniques +course" will tend to return more documents about training courses than techniques for training.

Additional features are:

Case Sensitivity: with the "Case Sensitive" checkbox checked, only exact (case-wise) matches will be returned.
Whole words only: with the "Whole words only" checkbox checked, only words which are complete will contribute to a document's score, e.g. a search for "work" will not match "working" or "works"
Quoting: by quoting the search terms in double quotes, only a match on the full phrase will contribute to a document's score, e.g. a search for "customer service" will match neither "customers" nor "full service".
Regular Expressions: checking the "Regular Expressions" checkbox will mean that your search expression will be treated as a Regular expression conforming to the Perl regular expression syntax. Thus the search is performed in the form m/your string/, where your string is what you have typed. An aide memoire for regular expressions is provided below.
